We want everyone to be able to browse the menu and order cookies from this site, whatever device or assistive technology they use. The site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we’ve done
- Keyboard: everything works with a keyboard alone, focus is always clearly visible, and a “Skip to content” link is the first thing you reach.
- Structure: each page has one main heading, headings follow a logical order, and the page is divided into landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer).
- Images: photos have text descriptions. The cookie drawings are described where they carry meaning, and hidden from screen readers where they’re decoration next to the cookie’s name.
- Colour and text: text and controls meet the AA contrast ratios. Allergen information never relies on colour alone, and is also given as a table.
- Motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, the animations (drawings inking in, the scrolling flavour banner, cookies hopping into the basket) are switched off.
- Zoom and small screens: pages reflow down to 320 pixels wide and work at 200% zoom without sideways scrolling. Only the allergen table scrolls sideways on its own.
- Forms: every field has a visible label, required fields are announced, and mistakes are explained in words next to the field.
- The basket: it opens as a dialog that keeps focus inside until you close it (with the close button or Escape), then returns you to where you were. Changes are announced.
Known limitations
- The photos on this site are placeholders, so their descriptions describe the stock photo rather than our actual cookies.
