Accessibility
Everyone should be able to order a box of cookies.
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Here is what that means in practice:
What we've done
- Every page works with a keyboard alone. A "Skip to content" link is the first thing you reach, and focus is always visible.
- Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast against their backgrounds.
- Headings, landmarks and labels are marked up so screen readers can find their way around. Every form field has a visible label, and errors are announced and explained in words.
- Allergens are written out in text on every cookie, never shown by colour alone. The allergen table on the menu has proper row and column headings.
- Photos have text descriptions. Chip, our cookie illustration, is described where it carries meaning and hidden from screen readers where it's decoration.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the animations (waving, bobbing, sliding, confetti) switch off.
- Pages reflow to a single column on small screens and can be zoomed to 400% without losing content.
Known limitations
This is a design mockup. Testing with screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA) is still to do; the results will be noted here.
